Why Adopt?

Why do I want to adopt?  It's a question I'm going to be asked many times constantly as I go through his journey.
Simple answer...because I do. I want to have a child. It's how I feel inside.

Extended essay answer: because I do. It's how I feel. I have that fatherly instinct.  I want to give my parents a grandchild, my brother a nephew or niece. I have all this wisdom and life lessons to impart upon a child that I may not have the opportunity that I would in my classroom. I want to give my undying love to a child, my child. I want to receive that love back.

I am part of a family, a long line of German, swedes, maybe Italians and Greeks. I want to keep the Schroeder lineage going. I have quite a few cousins but only one with the Schroeder name. I want to keep that going. I want grandchildren.

We Found Our Son in the Subway.

A New York Times article from February 2013, the couple find a newborn baby abandoned in the NYC subway at the 8th ave A/C/E station. They later adopt it.
It's dusty in here.

And so it begins

I've been thinking about when is the best time to come out and tell everyone that I've started the adoption process. I'll  the family and then of course I have to make it "Facebook official"
Duh, it's Fathers Day, why not tonight.
So, it's June 15th 2014, Fathers Day. I'm at the beginning of the adoption process. My blog will be about all the steps I take along the way, articles I find about gay adoption, this and that.
I'll have more posts explaining everything soon. I promise!

This is quick and simple so I can get it published before Fathers Day is over.
